Vehicle Touring in the Nazko Area

Quesnel - Nazko - Blackwater - Quesnel
A scenic all day tour, this is nearly the ultimate circle tour of the North Cariboo. Numerous lake and river picnic sites, wildlife viewing, fishing, and old homesteads are but a few of the features on this tour. Upon completion, the visitor should have a sound appreciation for the land and people of the rural district to the north and west of Quesnel. 250 km (150 miles). 

Vehicle Touring in the Quesnel Area

Fish Lake Circle Tour
West Quesnel - Garner Rd - Fish Lake - Tibbles Lake - Puntchesakut Lake - Quesnel.
Travel through forested areas and past the numerous lakes located on the west side of the Fraser River. This 195 km or 120 mi tour takes about 3 - 4 hours to complete and takes you through the Tzenzaicut (Fish) Lake Recreation Area and back to Quesnel from the south west.

Webster Lake Circle Tour
West Quesnel - West Fraser Rd - Narcosli - Webster Lake Rd. - Garner Rd. 
This tour brings the traveler close to the ranches, hill and wilderness forest areas so characteristic of the North Cariboo. Total distance covered is 78 km or 47 miles taking about two hours total driving time.

Cottonwood Canyon Tour
Quesnel - Quesnel-Hixon Rd. - Cottonwood Canyon - Plett or Olson Rd. - Hwy 97
This tour is short enough that it can be included in the itinerary of virtually any traveler. The attractions of this tour are numerous and varied with Cottonwood Canyon being the scenic highlight. The tour is 50 km or 29 miles in length taking about two hours of driving time.

Historic Highway 26 Driving Tour
Quesnel - Wells - Barkerville
Driving Tour from Quesnel to Barkerville retracing the steps of the earlyminers and pointing out the historic sites along the way. A map for this self guided tour can be picked up at the Quesnel Visitor Information and Conference Bureau or at Barkerville.

The Likely Tour
Quesnel - Wells - Barkerville - Likely Circle Tour
Follow the Matthew River road to Likely, a scenic 6 hour (160 km or 100 mi) back road drive between the gold rush towns. A gravel road suitable for trucks, or motorhomes should be adventurous. No services.Your speed is dictated by the condition of the road. Although passable by most vehicles, the road can be full of potholes which dictate you travel slowly. The scenery, however, is incredible.
